The two biggest are Luton and Bedford. A fairly large town of around 80,000 residents, Bedford is split down the middle by the illustrious River Great Ouse, which boasts picturesque spots for relaxing and unwinding after a hard day of lectures.
Student Life In Bedford
Bedford is famously a student town, with a large portion of its population owed to an inundation of students every September. As a result, students will find it to be not only a welcoming environment, but that it features good nightlife. The town has numerous student-friendly clubs that host student nights on different days of the week, allowing you to get to each and every one of them; if you’re feeling rich that is. On the Bedford campus itself, there is also a student union bar, but if you want to go to the SU club, you need to head to Luton. Just down the road, Luton is easy to get to, either by bus or train, and features another student union bar along with the club. Students, who have already lived on the Bedford campus, also claim freshers week to be one of the best in the country, featuring a mixed bag of nights out and events guaranteed to get new students ready for their first semester. Nights out then; are sorted. But, drinking and going out isn’t all you can do at Bedford. This particular campus of the Bedfordshire uni is very big on sports, perfect for those students who like to get active. For those who don’t, however, the campus is also home to a huge variety of societies and clubs. It is also important not to forget the town, which has a thriving art community for you creative types. However, the best part is the cost of living. Bedford is as cheap as they come, and you can find plenty of places to do your weekly shop on a, typically tight, student budget. You might even keep out of your overdraft, for a week at-least.
